Life in the Hurlingham Nursery is great fun and no two days are ever the same!
The nursery class is in a large and airy room where the children have a wonderful choice of activities. Our Early Years team consists of highly qualified and well-trained practitioners, some of whom are Montessori practitioners and all of whom are committed to ensuring that the children have the best possible start to their schooling.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for children aged 3 years to 5 years old. Children learn through a combination of teacher-initiated and child-led activities and, of course, play! We aim to provide a stimulating and caring environment where children feel secure and valued, which makes the transition from home to school as easy as possible.
We understand how important the link between home and nursery is, and encourage parents to share their children’s successes at home as well as ensuring that they are kept up to date on all school activities through school-parent communications and our Facebook page.
Progression from the Nursery to Reception is seamless. The children are happy and confident to move up in the school, as they already know the environment and the teachers. The Reception teacher and her assistant reinforce this smooth transition by visiting the children and parents at home prior to the start of the school year.
‘Leadership and management of the Early Years Foundation Stage is outstanding…children make exceptional progress.’
‘There is a range of activities provided in the Early Years setting to develop children’s skills.’
